Monday March 07th 2011.

Big up to everyone who voted “Against The Grain Classics” as “Best Album” at Breakspoll last weekend! It’s great to see breaks continuing to rock the underground. We had a huge amount of fun selecting the tracks for that album, and we had a few proud moments too looking back at what the label and our artists have achieved too.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, our “Classics” album was mixed by Krafty Kuts and features 29 of our all time fave Against The Grain monsters. It’s available to download from all good digital stores including:

Beatport
iTunes
Juno

Also, big congratulations to Krafty Kuts for winning best DJ… again!

Thanks for your support!

Wow! What amazing succession of events we have had recently. Krafty Kuts, Plump DJs, Freq Nasty, Freestylers and Stanton Warriors all played at our Byron Bay and Melbourne shows in the space of 1 month! Some seriously heavy partying going on there. Thank you to everyone who made it down and contributed to the electric atmosphere at these shows. Keep checking our ‘events’ page for details of our next shows.

Following a sell out show with Krafty Kuts in November, Against The Grain are back with a triple bill, heavyweight line up of world class superstar DJs.

The Plump DJs met at Freskanova Records in London in the late 1990s and begun to engineer a new global breaks scene. Releasing albums ‘A Plump Night Out’ and ‘Eargasm’ on Finger Lickin Records, they dominated dance music for years and continue to do so today.

Balancing underground credibility with Top 20 chart success, the Freestylers have rocked the world with hit records ‘B-Boy Stance’ and ‘Push Up’. They have played every big festival from Big Day Out to Glastonbury, sold half a million albums and even toured the US supporting Lenny Kravitz.

From the days of Breakbeat’s origins, Freq Nasty established himself as one of the scene’s pioneers, producing many of the genre’s defining moments. As Breakbeat came into its own, Freq Nasty’s tunes remained ahead of the pack. Today his music is a powerful assemblage of Breaks and Dubstep and Freq Nasty promises to be a favourite with the Byron crowd.

See you on the dancefloor!

The Stanton Warriors have succeeded in not only bucking musical definition, but have picked it up by the collar and kicked it’s ass! They are simply the hottest act in the world of beats and breaks. With their eclectic past drawing on hip hop, electro and funk, they have mixed up the old and the new for a unique take on breakbeat music.
